Back in Minnesota, I risked it all to deliver my sister a Cadbury Cream Egg today. The babies waved through the windows and we chatted on the porch briefly through my hankerchief mask.

Missing my people but so glad that they have this special intentional time with one another.

It did have me start thinking about what “over” will look like. When will we give ourselves the permission to congregate at bonfires with neighbors, what will greeting a friend look like in the coming months, a  proximal wave?

Yikes. The unknown.

A socially distanced Easter. My grandmother lives with my sister and her children so they have been isolating for 3 weeks only twenty parents away from my parents’. The separation was hard on everyone, and after a guarantee that all were symptom-free we decided to meet on Sunday to celebrate the Holy Holiday. Masks were worn except while dining, hands were repetitively sanitized and cousins stopped by to sit in a large circle on the patio and commune.

This time has been specifically difficult for my social and very energetic nephews, I had to scold him twice to not venture into they neighbors yard to play.  My other nephew was quoted asking “when the adults would stop being afraid of us.”  Strange times.

Wisconsinites have this delightful little tradition we insist on partaking in each week we remember, even in the midst of a quarantine. Friday rolls around and everyone starts saying, “Gosh I wish we could do fish fry tonight.” So I taught my parents how to use UberEats and we had Beer Battered Cod delivered within the hour! Yum!

I finished building this website today, while looking out over my mother’s bright window boxes while an unexpected Spring sleet blows by outside. She is so very colorful, silk flowers to brighten up any tired day.
